Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Cheeky Charging collects when you rent a power bank or use our website and app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information responsibly.

1. Who we are

For the purposes of UK data protection law, the "data controller" of your personal information is Cheeky Charging Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales — company number [COMPANY NUMBER], registered office [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS].

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@cheekycharging.com.

Cheeky Charging Ltd is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].

2. The information we collect

Depending on how you use Cheeky Charging, we may collect:

  • Contact and account details — such as your name, email address and phone number, if you create an account, contact us, or submit a venue enquiry.
  • Payment information — when you rent a power bank, your payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we receive limited details such as a payment confirmation and the last few digits of your card.
  • Rental and usage data — which station you used, when a rental started and ended, its duration, and the amount charged.
  • Location data — if you use our app, it may use your device's location, with your permission, to show you nearby charging stations.
  • Device and technical data — such as device type, app version, IP address and similar information needed to run the service securely.
  • Support correspondence — the messages and details you send us by email, live chat or WhatsApp when you contact our help team.
  • Venue enquiry information — if you enquire about hosting a station, the details you submit in our venue form (venue name, venue type, city, your name, email, phone and any message).

3. How and why we use your information

We use your information for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under UK GDPR:

  • To provide the service — releasing power banks, tracking rentals and returns, and taking payment. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
  • To provide customer support — answering questions, handling refunds and resolving problems. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in helping our customers.
  • To keep the service secure — preventing fraud, misuse and loss of equipment. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our service and customers.
  • To respond to venue enquiries — following up with potential venue partners. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in growing our network, and taking steps before entering a contract.
  • To send you marketing — only where you have asked us to or otherwise agreed. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations — such as keeping transaction records. Lawful basis: compliance with a legal obligation.

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary, with:

  • Stripe, our payment provider, to process payments and refunds.
  • The technology provider that operates our charging stations and app, so the service can function.
  • Service providers who help us run the business — for example IT, hosting and communications providers — under appropriate confidentiality and data protection terms.
  • Venue partners, on a limited basis only — venues see rental activity and commission figures for their station, but we do not share customers' personal details with them beyond what is needed.
  • Professional advisers, such as our accountants or legal advisers, where needed.
  • Authorities or other third parties, where we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, property or safety.

If our business is sold or reorganised, your information may be transferred as part of that, subject to this Policy.

5. Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. For full details of what we use and how to control them, please see our Cookies Policy.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it. Rental and payment records are kept for as long as required for accounting and legal purposes (generally six years). Support correspondence and enquiry details are kept for a reasonable period and then deleted or anonymised. Where we no longer need information, we securely delete it.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers (such as Stripe) may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we take steps to ensure your information is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

8. Keeping your information secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmitting data over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our measures regularly.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to erase your information in certain circumstances.
  • Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information.
  • Ask us to transfer your information to you or another provider, where applicable.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cheekycharging.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

10. Children

Cheeky Charging is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the "last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.

12. Contact us and complaints

If you have any questions about this Policy or how we handle your information, contact us at hello@cheekycharging.com.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, the regulator for data protection in the UK. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
