These terms and conditions ("Terms") explain the rules for using the Cheeky Charging website and app, and for renting one of our portable power banks. Please read them before you rent. By renting a power bank or using our website or app, you agree to these Terms.
This website and the Cheeky Charging service are operated by Cheeky Charging Ltd ("Cheeky Charging", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales — company number [COMPANY NUMBER], registered office [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS].
You can contact us any time at hello@cheekycharging.com or through the help page at cheekycharging.com/support.
Cheeky Charging operates self-service stations that rent portable power banks (chargers) to customers. Stations are located in partner venues such as bars, pubs, cafés and other venues across the UK. Each power bank has built-in cables so it works with most phones and devices.
You can release a power bank by tapping a contactless card or device, or by scanning the QR code on the station, and you can return it to any Cheeky Charging station — it does not have to be the one you took it from.
You may use our website and app only for lawful purposes. You must not misuse them, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or interfere with the service. The app is provided under the terms of the relevant app store, in addition to these Terms.
To rent a power bank you may need to provide certain information (such as a payment method). You are responsible for keeping any account details accurate and secure.
Our pricing for renting a power bank is:
If a power bank is not returned within 24 hours, we treat it as kept. The charge is capped at a £28 keep-fee, after which the power bank is yours to keep and use as your own portable charger. This is not a fine or penalty — it is the price of the power bank.
Prices are shown on the station, in the app and on our website, and may change from time to time. The price that applies to your rental is the price displayed at the time you take the power bank.
Payment is taken from the card or mobile wallet (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay) you use to unlock a power bank. When you start a rental we may place a temporary authorisation hold on your payment method; the final amount is charged when you return the power bank or when the keep-fee applies.
Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Please see our Privacy Policy for how your information is handled.
If you return a power bank to any Cheeky Charging station within the first 5 minutes, you are automatically refunded in full — no form and no waiting.
If you have been charged the £28 keep-fee but no longer want the power bank, you can return it to any Cheeky Charging station within 7 days of the keep-fee being applied and claim a £15 refund. To do this, return the power bank and complete the battery returns form on our help page.
If you were charged in error, charged the wrong amount, or a station or power bank did not work as it should, contact us through the help page and we will put it right. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
When you rent a power bank, you agree to:
If a power bank won't release from a station, try a second time before contacting us — this resolves most cases. If it still won't release, get in touch and we will help.
Our power banks are designed and tested for everyday phone and device charging. If a power bank becomes hot, damaged or behaves unusually, stop using it and contact us. We monitor our stations and arrange repairs or swaps when something faults.
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for losses caused by your misuse of a power bank.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. None of these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
If you run a venue and host (or wish to host) a Cheeky Charging station, that relationship is governed by a separate venue partnership agreement, not by these Terms. To find out more, visit our venues page or email hello@cheekycharging.com.
The Cheeky Charging name, logo, website, app and all related content are owned by Cheeky Charging Ltd or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or reuse them without our permission.
We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to our service or the law. The version published on this page is the one that applies. The "last updated" date above shows when they were last changed.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
