💡 Quick answers

The questions we get asked most — tap one to open it.

How much does it cost?

First 5 minutes free. Then £3 for the first 30 minutes, and £1 for every 30 minutes after that — capped at £8 a day.

If a battery isn't returned after 24 hours, we assume you'd like to keep it — the charge caps at £28 and the battery is yours to keep and use as a power bank, forever.

Changed your mind? Return it within 7 days for a £15 refund — just fill out a battery returns form:

How do I return the battery?

Push the battery firmly into any empty slot at any Cheeky station — it doesn't have to be the one you took it from.

Hold it in for 5 seconds until the slot light holds green — that's your confirmation it's been returned correctly.

A notification will then appear on the station screen telling you how long you rented for and how much you'll be charged.

I've only just taken it — can I stop?

Yes. Return the battery to any Cheeky station within the first 5 minutes and you're automatically refunded in full — no form, no waiting.

After 5 minutes, normal pricing applies.

Where's my nearest station?

Open the Cheeky Charging app — it shows live availability near you, including how many batteries are free at each station so you're never caught out.

Download the Cheeky app
Will it charge my phone?

Every Cheeky battery has three cables built in — USB-C, Lightning and micro-USB — so it works with iPhone, Android and most other devices. Just pull out the cable that fits.

A station won't release a battery

This usually happens because the battery the station tried to give you didn't have enough charge in it — so the station held it back rather than hand you a flat one.

Don't worry about being charged. We've already logged it, and the £3 will bounce back to you within a few hours. Just try again — the station will release a properly charged battery. You will never be double charged.

Still no luck after a couple of tries? Let us know:

I was charged but no battery came out

Don't worry — we'll always automatically refund you. That payment is only a pending hold, and it bounces back to you on its own, usually within 2–3 hours.

You don't need to do anything. If you'd still like to chase it up and it's been more than 2 days, let us know:

The battery isn't charging my phone

Pop it back into any Cheeky station and grab a different one — you won't pay twice in the same rental window.

Then log it below with the battery code printed on the unit, so we can pull that battery and refund your rental.

I've been charged the wrong amount

Quick check first: 5 mins free, £3 for the first 30 mins, £1 per 30 after, £8 capped per day, £28 if a battery isn't returned.

If it still doesn't add up, log it below with the amount charged and we'll look into it and put it right.

I've taken a battery home

No stress. Once you hit the £28 cap the battery is yours to keep and use as a power bank — recharge it and use it whenever you like.

Prefer the money back? Return it to any Cheeky station within 7 days and log it below — we'll refund you £15.
